Project 1 – Fantasy Appliance
Hi guys! I hope everyone has had a good start to the semester!!
The object I chose was an old coffee grinder I found while at a thrift store...
I had the idea of that instead of grinding coffee beans into grounds it ground rainbows into rainbow sprinkles!
I made this really quick in illustrator to map out how I wanted everything to look, then started to draw.
I added ice cream so its a little more clear that its sprinkles and also made the rainbow go into the grinder! Here it is in color and black and white!
Hi Meredith! I absolutely love this concept! The composition works well by drawing your eye downwards towards the sprinkles. I also like the color contrast of the grinder being a dark color (brown and grey) and what its making being really colorful with rainbows. Thus far my only suggestion/critique would be to make the rainbow go above the dark grey part of the grinder so it looks like it's going in it rather than behind it.
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith! Your concept is cool! I agree with Makena that the rainbow should lead into the bowl instead of just ending at the rim. One thing I noticed was color. According to the syllabus and student work video on ASU Learn, this project does not allow color. That might be something you talk about with the professor or try to find a way to show the rainbow to sprinkles or change it to something else.
